Cheesy Chicken Sandwiches (Printable Recipe)

# What You’ll Need:

→ Ground Chicken Sloppy Joes

01 - 1 tablespoon cooking oil
02 - 1 small sweet onion, chopped finely
03 - 3 cloves garlic (smashed, paste form, or from jar)
04 - 1 pound ground chicken
05 - ½ teaspoon Italian herbs
06 - ½ teaspoon sea salt
07 - ½ teaspoon ground pepper (less if you prefer milder taste)

→ Alfredo Sauce

08 - 4 tablespoons salted butter
09 - 1 cup heavy cream
10 - 3/4 cup shredded parmesan
11 - 2 teaspoons garlic powder

→ For Serving

12 - Provolone or Mozzarella Cheese slices
13 - Burger buns

# Step-by-Step Directions:

01 - Warm the cooking oil in a big skillet over medium heat. Toss in your chopped sweet onion and cook for around 3 minutes until it turns clear and smells good.
02 - Add your garlic and stir for about 30 seconds until you can smell it. Watch it closely so it doesn't get too brown!
03 - Put the ground chicken in with the Italian herbs, sea salt, and ground pepper. Break it up with a wooden spoon while cooking until it's all brown with no pink spots. Pour off any extra liquid.
04 - In another smaller pot over medium heat, melt your butter. Add in the heavy cream, drop in the shredded parmesan and garlic powder. Keep stirring for around 3-5 minutes until it gets nice and thick.
05 - Pour your thick Alfredo sauce onto the cooked chicken. Mix it all together so every bit of chicken gets coated in the creamy sauce.
06 - Keep the mixture bubbling gently for about 10 minutes, letting the sauce get thicker and all the flavors come together.
07 - While it's simmering, get your buns ready. Split them open and put on a baking tray. Butter each half (or use cooking spray) and broil them until golden. Keep an eye on them so they don't burn! For extra cheese, add a slice to each top bun and broil another 30 seconds. Spoon the chicken mix onto the bottom buns, put on the cheesy tops, and dig in!

# Additional Notes:

01 - If you want larger servings, this will make 4 sandwiches instead of 5
02 - Cheese grated from a fresh parmesan block melts way better than store-bought grated stuff
03 - Getting those buns toasty gives a nice crunch against the soft filling
